Service Technicians Workplace Culture – 2016 Service Olympics

Last Friday, Impact service technicians from Indianapolis to Madison and everywhere in between gathered for the annual Impact Service Olympics. Donning team t-shirts with names like “Corporate Tools” and “Executioners,” everyone in the room had a singular goal in mind—go for the gold.

The Service Olympics allow all Impact service team members to gather together annually in a celebration of their dedication. Our service team is a crucial operation within Impact, and their skill and attention to detail are one of the reasons that Impact retains roughly 93% of its clients, and has reference letters from over 450 clients and counting. Members of our service department are often one of the first points of contact for our clients when questions arise, and their quick, courteous response to client needs contributes to our reputation for excellent service.

Having over fifty members of the service department together under one roof was the perfect opportunity to engage in spirited competition that would allow techs to not only have some fun, but flex their skills as well. Lined up in front of the stage were machines that each required some work, and select techs worked in teams to repair them in a race against the clock. Other events included Jeopardy questions about company history, written accuracy tests, a Lego building competition, and even the construction of a working circuit that enabled a miniature helicopter launch.

Throughout the competition, raffle tickets were drawn with prizes such as Apple Watches, iPads, Beats headphones, and fifteen seconds in the Impact Cash-o-Nator to grab as much cash as possible. Throughout the event, as teams and individuals competed for medals, the Corporate Tools of our Lake Forest branch stole the show in both individual and team events, and won the competition overall. After the winners were crowned, the celebration continued as members of the service team were able to catch up with fellow techs from other branches. Like many other events at Impact, the Service Olympics is the perfect example of the culture that keeps Impact strong, and a celebration of the people that keep it running.
