Impact Celebrates Earth Day With Sustainability Initiatives
Deforestation is a serious issue. The removal of trees for commercial, agricultural, and residential purposes occurs all around the world, with rainforests being especially vulnerable.
Over the past five years, Impact has made significant strides in implementing sustainability initiatives for our customers. These initiatives include a partnership with a technology platform that certifiably “releafs” forest consumption, the implementation of a used toner cartridge recycling program, the option to buy sustainably sourced paper directly from Impact, and new solutions to reduce paper-based processes.
In 2015, Impact became an authorized channel partner of the PrintReleaf Exchange (PRX), a certification system and software platform for automated global reforestation. With PRX, customers “releaf,” or reforest, their paper consumption by planting new trees – equivalent to their paper use – at global reforestation project sites of their choice. Immediately following the conception of this partnership, Impact began offering PrintReleaf as a value-add to Managed Print Services (MPS) customers to help them be more sustainable. Since then, Impact customers have collectively offset the equivalent of 2,589,2234,257 total standard pages of paper consumption by reforesting 310,719 standard trees on the PrintReleaf Exchange.
Following the strategic partnership with PrintReleaf, Impact began to sell sustainably sourced paper directly to customers, providing another renewable service. Additionally, Impact’s Toner Recycling Program allows for MPS customers to recycle used toner cartridges for free. Impact provides customers with the shipping containers and labels at the customers’ request. Recycling used toner cartridges saves energy and water, by not having to produce new cartridges.
Finally, Impact offers document management solutions that allow customers to streamline, automate and reduce redundant, manual and/or paper-based processes. For businesses that rely on a paper-based document system, a document management solution can digitize documents, making them instantly accessible but also more secure. One solution is PaperCut, a software program that uses rules-based workflows to reduce printing volume. By reducing the dependence on paper-based processes, a company can reduce its carbon footprint and save on printing costs.
As a partner, it is important that Impact be able to provide environmentally sustainable options so that customers can continue to do their part as socially responsible corporations.
