Impact takes third place in the global MxHacks 2022: Low-Code for Good hackathon
Impact Networking, a leading managed service provider (MSP), announced today that it took third place in the MxHack 2022: Low-Code for Good competition hosted by Mendix, a Siemens business and global leader in modern enterprise application development. The two-day event took place at four in-person locations: Boston, London, Rotterdam, and Singapore, as well as remotely from anywhere in the world.
“Mendix is fast becoming the platform of choice for enterprise digital transformation, and it also has the power to transform the world,” says Johan den Haan, chief product and technology officer at Mendix. “MxHacks is a great way for developers to meet like-minded people who are passionate about building killer solutions and doing something important to make the world a better place. It’s amazing what you can do with Mendix low-code in 36 hours.”
MxHacks 2022 was Mendix’s first-ever global hackathon and attracted more than 1,200 developers, or 589 teams, who registered to compete and create low-code apps that advance social justice around the world. Three nonprofit organizations, selected by Mendix, challenged teams to build solutions that help the most vulnerable people in the world access education, integrate in a new country, and provide them with shelter and a chance to rebuild their lives in a meaningful way.
Developers competing in the Americas region were tasked with the challenge of building an innovative low-code solution for Project Alianza, a nonprofit that aims to bridge the learning gap for rural school-aged children in Central America by leveraging technology and existing community networks. The nonprofit’s scalable model trains local women as community educators to transform education and create generational change from within their own communities.
Impact’s team of four developers (Scott Gaydos, Chase Kurkowski, Miguel Paloma, Benjamin Weinberg) built a fully-functional test application that can both increase engagement in education at the household level and provide access to learning activities while children are at home or working. With a primary focus of improving literacy and health behaviors, the team proactively communicated with representatives from the nonprofit to create the custom app at an accelerated pace.
Scott Gaydos, low-code team lead of the Business Applications team at Impact, described the hackathon experience. “MxHacks was a great event! We were given the opportunity to build an app that truly impressed the customer and judges. Among the four of us, we have more than 10 years of experience in app development and successfully implementing applications for our own customers, and it showed in what we submitted.”
“Impact is one of the premier Mendix developers in the US,” said Frank Cucco, CEO of Impact. “Taking third place in this global competition proves that we have the experts and technical know-how to back up that statement.”
