Kyocera Mita KM-3530, ‘Best of Class’
EXCERPT FROM THE 2002 OPA MFP RELIABILITY SURVEY
We surveyed 137 dealer Service Managers around the country and asked them to rate the devices they service via extensive, in-depth telephone interviews. The study encompassed over 60,000 units. After reviewing the data contained in the survey, the OPA compiles a Recommended Purchase list made up of those models with an average reliability rating of 85% or higher. Devices that are rated high enough to be on the Recommended Purchase list receive the “Technician Recommended©” rating from the OPA. The OPA places devices into one of six categories based on their published engine speed. In this year’s study, the Kyocera Mita KM-3530 was rated as the most reliable device in its class.
The Recommended Purchase list is based on the perceptions of the service managers interviewed who have serviced each model. Respondents were asked to rate each MFP’s reliability on a scale of one to ten. This number was then converted into a percentage and devices that received a rating of 85% or higher qualified as “Technician Recommended©.” Based on results from this issue, not only did the Kyocera Mita KM-3530 receive a 91% rating – a relative advantage of 18% over the industry average rating for devices in the 25 – 44 PPM speed category (77% rating), but it also rated higher than any other device in this speed study.
Industry Analysts defines an MFP as a platen-based device that can be connected to a computer workstation or local area network (LAN).
