3 For 3: Tony Stubblefield
Famed sportscaster Dick Stockton as he’s back for the second episode in our 3 for 3 series, which looks at the careers and achievements of 12 people and their journeys through professional sports.
This week, our guest is Tony Stubblefield, Head Coach of the DePaul Blue Demons basketball team, which participates in the prestigious Big East Conference.
Appointed head coach for the Blue Demons in April 2021, Stubblefield spent 11 seasons as a coach at the Oregon Ducks, reaching the Final Four once and Elite Eight once in addition to three Sweet 16 appearances.
In Stubblefield’s so far storied career, he has served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Cincinnati. He also served on the staff at New Mexico State, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio, and his alma mater Nebraska-Omaha.
Stubblefield began his career as a student assistant while completing his undergraduate studies, earning two letters playing guard for Nebraska-Omaha, and serving as the team captain in his senior season.
