Read About the Dealerships who Received the BTA Award of Excellence

Accepting Impact Networking’s Category II BTA “Award of Excellence” from Robert Whiton (center) are (from left): Dan Meyer, vice president; Tom Lajeunesse, sales manager; Frank T. Cucco, president; and Tom Pieters, sales manager.

Based on such factors as their outstanding sales and service programs and their commitment to transitioning to today’s new technologies and business solutions, three Business Technology Association (BTA) member dealerships were presented with a “Reseller of the Year Award of Excellence” during the association’s Business Technology Conference, held in Las Vegas, June 10-11.

The award winners, representing three annual revenue categories, are: Digitex Corp., League City, Texas; Impact Networking, Waukegan, Ill.; and Alternative Business Systems, Lincoln, Neb. They were selected as BTA Award of Excellence winners based upon an evaluation of comprehensive candidate profiles submitted by a number of prospective award recipients.

“In honor of their excellence in business performance and strategic management, these companies are deserving of this recognition,” said 2001-02 BTA President Robert Whiton, who presented the awards during the Welcome Reception of the conference. “Through the guidance of their owners and the performance of their employees, they exemplify what can be achieved through hard work and determination. They have each distinguished themselves as model dealerships within the BTA channel and have earned our respect and praise.”

The companies were evaluated in four key performance categories: finance, including average sales per employee, gross margin, inventory turnover and average collection period; operations, including effectiveness in reducing employee turnover, customer-focused programs, business plan goals and objectives, and 2001 business growth pattern; vision, including marketing innovations related to selling future technologies and adherence to a formal vision statement; and involvement, including industry recognition and community involvement.

Digitex Corp. is the Category I (under $3 million in annual gross sales) award recipient. Mark Kinley is president of the company. With a focus on document storage and retrieval solutions, Digitex is one of the fastest growing Ricoh dealerships in the United States. The company was founded in 1996 and grew to nearly $3 million in sales by the end of 2001.

Impact Networking is the Category II ($3 million to $10 million in annual gross sales) award recipient. Frank Cucco and Dan Meyer founded the dealership in 1999. A Kyocera Mita America dealership, Impact Networking achieved $2.3 million in sales in its first year, growing 86 percent to $4 million by the end of its second year.

Alternative Business Systems is the Category III (more than $10 million in annual gross sales) award recipient. Carl Little, then a 20-year industry veteran, founded the company in 1996. In the six years since it was founded, the company has increased annual sales from $650,000 to $16 million. The Konica and Sharp dealership boasts approximately 4,000 active accounts and 100 employees with operations in Omaha and Lincoln, Neb., and Kansas City, Mo.
