Born in Havana, Plana moved to Miami, Florida in 1960 and then to Los Angeles as an older child. In LA, he got his first glimpse of movie making and the entertainment industry, peeking through the gates of MGM Studios where, 30 years later, he would be working on a major motion picture opposite Anthony Hopkins.
Tony also has experience on the state, originating the role of Luis Valdez in the Los Angeles production of Zoo Suit.
